Our Skiing Adventure

Hey, it’s been awhile since we’ve a  a blog post together. We wanted to update you on our adaptive skiing adventure. Ashley went and picked up Ebony from her house, then we headed to Beech Mountain. When we got there we had to wait awhile because preparations to ski takelong then we thought. We met our instructors then headed down to the slopes. The instructors were very nice and accomedating. They made it really fun for us: Ashley and her instructor sang songs while they skied. Ebony’s  instructor took her to the top of the mountain. They were going so fast that Ebony’s  ski flipped and she face planted. Don’t worry she was not hurt. She laughed instead. We felt really free with the wind in our faces. It’s one of our best adventures yet. Whoever wants to ski or volunteer should definitely do so. It’s worth it.

Eb & Ash💚

See the person AND the disability

Many times, I have seen and heard the quote: “See the person, not the disability.” I know people truly mean well by this saying, and as I have written before, there is more to a person than their disability, but to completely ignore and be oblivious to the fact that I have cerebral palsy would be like me ignoring half of the person you are. My disability has helped shape me into the person I am, and I’m really proud of that. I  wouldn’t be blessed with the experiences or the people that God has blessed me with if it weren’t for CP. I am confident in my own skin, so you should be confident when you approach me, or vice versa. Don’t ignore the fact that I have a disability, and most importantly, don’t be afraid to say that word. It’s completely fine. I’m proud of that.

Continuing The Journey

As some of you know I’ve been trying my hand in acting. So far it’s going better than I expected. When you put your energy into something you love, it doesn’t feel like work. I have learned about myself in the past year and I’ve become more self aware. I started this journey to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy, it’s about more than that. It’s about helping other that don’t have a voice disabled or not. With recent events happening , it’s hard to get caught up in our differences rather than what brings us together. I want to up lift others through my acting. Diversity it what makes us beautiful.  I have exciting things coming up this year. I can’t wait to tell you guys about it.  Until next time…
